Ever wanted to know what a 'blog' is and why blogs might be important to your business?

The words – what to say and how to say it.

The words are arguably one of the most important elements in an Internet business web site, in any web site in fact. The words not only spell out the attractions and benefits of your products or service they also – and most importantly – play a vital role in helping visitors find your web site in the first place.

By choosing the right words and phrases and weaving them into the pages of your site, you can help your web site rank higher than your competitors’ web sites in the search engine listings. For more on the importance of search engines, please go here.

If you’re willing and able to write all the words for your web site, then you’ll not have to pay someone £35 to £70 an hour to write them for you. But even if you don't feel able to write the words for your site, you will still need to gather the information any writer would need to do the job for you.

And by the way, spelling and grammatical mistakes on your web site can fatally damage your credibility. Check, check and check again!

The design – what your web site looks like
Sometimes referred to as ‘look and feel’, this aspect of web site development covers both the images and the way the ‘type’ appears on your web site

Although you may be able to handle the wording side of things, the chances are, that you’ll not be able to put together a design for your site so you’ll need the services of a graphic designer.

It can sometimes be helpful to the designer, if you can find an example of a site you like and he or she can use that as a point of reference when designing your site.

On the other hand, you may not have any strong feelings about the look of your site, in which case you can give your designer a free hand, but bear in mind that you might be in for a surprise..!
